Asparagus setaceus

Asparagus setaceus

The asparagus fern is native to South America where it grows in soft clumps in steamy forests. It lives in the partial shade of larger trees, stretching out its fine leaves. Perfect conditions in the home will mimic this, with dappled sunlight and high humidity. This can be achieved by spraying the plant with a fine water mist daily.

It doesn't like to be touched, and often the leaves will go brown if this happens too often. Best to admire from a distance! It interestingly isn't a real fern, but it was given the common name Asparagus Fern due to its frondy appearance. We love its structure and it can be pruned to a bonsai style.

Approx height: 28cm
